Parliament

Parliament
This term we have been learning about Parliament. We have looked at the difference between government and parliament, NZ parliament, who is in government, how our government works and we compared democracy to dictatorship.

Three things that I learned about NZ parliament are:

  • Where everyone sits during a session in parliament.
  • The people in parliament and what they do.
  • That there is a underground passageway for the people of the house to arrive at parliament faster.

Here is the link to my compare and contrast map explaining the difference between democracy and dictatorship.

My Student Led Conference

My Student Led Conference

The things I enjoyed most about my SLC were: Sharing learning and achievements with my parents.

What went well and why? Something that went well was that my patents were asking a lot of questions, and it was good because, I used up all of the time.

What were the challenges you faced when preparing and presenting your SLC? When my parents asked a question I didn't know the answer to.

What changes would you make for next time and why? I would share more, because I had heaps of time left.

Term 1 Integrated Learning - Leadership

Term 1 Integrated Learning - Leadership

We have been learning all about What makes a good leader.

We identified that good leaders show 6 main character traits. These are Integrity, Trustworthy, Resilient, Active Thinker, Goal focused and motivational.

The leadership trait that I think I show the most is, Resilient, because when ever I fail, I am resilient, and pull myself out of the pit.

The leadership trait I would most like to develop is, Active Thinker because, I don't participate in group discussions that much.

Something NEW I have learned about leadership is, you don't have to be a House Captain, or a Head Student to be a leader.

The SOLO level that I reached during this unit of learning is Extended Abstract, because, I can evaluate the effectiveness of a leader.

My next step in learning about leadership is to apply everything that I have learned about leadership to my own leadership roles.
