Choir

Today at choir, we practised for the music festival again. The first songs we sung were, Murasame, Here comes the sun/ This little light of mine. My favourite songs are Ring of fire and American child. I like these songs because  they have a cool tune and beat to them. I like choir because we get to perform at the Music Festival. If you don't know what the music festival is, it is a big event were you get to sing. I performed at the Music Festival a few years ago, it was really fun, and I can't wait to do it again.

librarian

Today at librarian, it was really hot and stuffy. probably because I had just done long distance. The first thing we did was put some books away in the right places. Then I went and sat at the desk. The first person who wanted a book issued. Xanthe was scanning and I was stamping. Afterwards we had some more books to put away. After we had done that, we issued some books for ourselves to read. A little girl came up to us and asked us if we would like to read her a book.  The book was called I Spy. We read her half of the book. The bell rang. We packed up the library and went back to class.

Being a Good Role Model To Kakano Students

I am being a good role model to younger students by, eating outside the classroom when the bell rings instead of eating on the field. This prevents litter around the school. Another thing that I am doing is wearing my hat correctly at morning tea and lunchtimes. By wearing my hat, the Kakano students will copy me and wear their hat. Another thing that relates to that is wearing my school uniform correctly. For example, instead of wearing a jumper from home, I wear a school one.

Bus Trip To Technology

Today on the bus to technology, I was being a good role model for our school by sitting down on the bus and only talking to the people beside me. I was also sitting with my bus buddies in the correct seat. I think as one big group we can work on our transitions a lot better.

Something I might need to work on is the noise level that I use on the bus.

Music Lessons

Today at music lessons ( guitar ), I had lots of fun. The first thing we did was play some songs we already knew. Some of the songs we played were, Ten Guitars, Let her go, Count on me by Bruno Mars and the last song was Hallelujah. The next thing we did was play 'I'm a believer'. We were practising it to get ready to perform it the next day. When Mr McCallum was playing a song, he broke one of his guitar strings. The noise it made was ear piercing!!!! We all stopped and gasped. He put his guitar down and used a different one. We carried on and kept playing.

Peer Mediation Week 4

Today at Peer Mediation, we had no problems. That means that everyone was getting along, unless they weren't telling anyone. I saw lots of people playing soccer, touch, netball and a whole bunch of others. I was the only person who turned up to Peer Mediation. At least I know to turn up to my duties.

Peer mediation week 3

Today at peer mediation, we had a few problems. Lots of little kids were taking the seniors sports gear and using it for them. We had to tell lots of little people to put the gear back in the bins and play with there own gear. Some little kids do listen, but a few kids didn't. This was our solution. We organised a game for them to play. The game was tricky tag. It was easy because you don't need any gear for it. Then some year 3 kids asked if they could have another rugby ball to go in their sport bin. After morning tea we quickly went and asked Mr. Forman if we could put another rugby ball in their sport bin. He said yes. At lunchtime I saw them playing happily.

2015 Goals ( How I am going )

These are my goals for 2015 so far.

1. To be in group activities
I think that I am going really well, because I am involved in lots of things. Such as, Choir, Kapa Haka, PALS, Radio Station, Librarian and Peer Mediation.

2. To be a good role model
I think that I am being a good role model, because I am line up and transition sensibly to and from class and assembly's. I also were my hat when I am supposed to.

3. Improve in my school work
I think that my school work has improved a lot. The area that I think I have improved in is reading.

My next step is to turn up to my duties on time.

Koru Games

Over the last 3 days, I competed in soccer for Koru Games.
I really enjoyed playing against Heron School because they were challenging.
Thinking back to the beginning of the year, I think I have improved a lot because my passing is a lot better  and I'm not a ball hog anymore.

Something I will always remember is scoring a goal in penalty shoot outs, it was a top right.

Music Lessons Week 2 (excellence badge)

Music Lessons Week 2
Today at music lessons, I went with Jackie and Hannah. Firstly we tuned our guitars. Then we talked to Mr. McCalum. The first song we practiced was Nga Iwi E. Then we did 12 bar blues. Twelve bar blues sounds really good with the piano too. The reason I started doing guitar was because I thought it would be a challenge and nice to try something new. I am finding two cords hard. They are called C and Bm. In case if you haven't read any of my other posts, Bm stands for B minor. I enjoy guitar lot's.

MY LEADERSHIP GOALS

( how I am going )

To be in group activities - I think I am going really well because I am involved in lots of things such as choir,PALS and lots of other things.

To be a good role model - I think I am going really well because I am being a good role model to the younger students in assembly.

To improve in my school work - I think I am going really well and I am improving in my maths work.

Guitar Lessons (excellence badge)

Guitar Lessons Week 1

Today at guitar lessons, we went over all the songs we had learnt in term 1 and 2. The first song we played was Ni ewe e then 12 bar blues, ten guitars, firefly's and a whole heap of other songs. Then we started learning hallelujah. On guitar the cords needed for hallelujah are- D, G, C, Bm and A7. The hardest cords would have to be C and Bm. Bm means B minor. The first cord I learnt was E minor. Then D, E7, G and so on. My favorite song would have to be 12 bar blues because, it has a good tune to it when Mr. McCullum does it on the piano at the same time we are doing it on the guitar. I was a little rusty and had forgotten most of the cords, because it has just been the holidays. So it took me a while to do the songs. The only thing I don't like about guitar is learning new songs, because they are hard and you have to learn new cords.

Peer Mediation Week 2 (excellence badge)

Peer Mediation Week 2

Today at Peer Mediation, we had no problems. Lots of things that I saw around the playgrounds was, people playing good games. For example: Colour Tag, Busted and Tag games. On the field I saw lots of good games as well. For example: Touch, Soccer, Cricket and a whole heap of other games. There was lots of things going on, on the courts. Like Netball games, Basketball games and made up games as well. Some little kids were even having a show on the music room deck. It was cool to see little kids trying to shoot hoops and trying out new things. If you don't know what Peer Mediation is, it is when little or big kids come and tell you their problems and you sort them out. It is good that there was no problems today.

PALS week 2 (excellence badge)

PALS week 2

Today at PALS, we decided to play doge ball. Doge ball is a very popular game, so that is why we chose it. But when we set it all up, no one came to play. So we started playing ourselves. Gradually people started to come and play with us. Firstly we played a game of medic doge ball. Then we played three rounds of knockout. I think that they enjoyed knockout the most. It was good because everybody turns up every single time. If you don't know what PALS is, it stands for Physical Activity Leader. It is when you organise games for kids to play every fortnight. We were meant to do it for half of lunch but we ended up doing the whole of lunch because we got side tracked.

Peer Mediation week 1 (excellence badge)

Peer Mediation Week 1

On Monday I had Peer Mediation. We had a big problem. There was these kids that were fighting over who got the ball first. Some strategies I used were, say that one person could have it at morning tea, and the other person could have it at lunch. That didn't work because one of the kids said "what if the person doesn't get the ball at lunch." I thought that is point was right. So I tried to think of another strategy to use. The second strategy I used was that they shared the ball and play together. Thankfully that worked. But there was a minus. The bell rang.

CHOIR

Today at choir, we were practicing for the music festival. One of the songs were the Mexican wave. I like how choir is set out and the time of it because I have a lot that I have to do in the first block. Choir goes for  45 minutes. It starts at 8:45 and ends at 9:30. We have practiced a lot so I think we will be really good at the music festival. I am glad I joined choir because it is really fun.I did the music festival a few years ago, it was really fun because there was a big screen that video you then put you on the big screen.I also like choir because I get to play guitar. There are lots of people who are in choir, which is good.I am glad to see that lots of people are getting involved.

MUSIC LESSONS

Music lessons ( guitar ) was really hard because we learnt three new cords. The cords we learnt were BM, C and D. Firstly we started off by playing a song ( the easiest song ). Next we stood up and practiced but without looking. Then Mr McCullum told us that we would be preforming in front of the girls class for music tomorrow. Hannah and I got really excited that all our hard work would pay off. We started practicing the song straight away. But sadly we had to go back to class because our session had finished.
